Your toilet should be replaced every 5 to 10 years, depending on its condition. If it is starting to show signs of wear and tear, such as cracks or leaks, it may need to be replaced sooner. On the other hand, if it is still in good condition, you may be able to wait longer.
Hydro-Jetting in Central and North Jersey
A drain that keeps clogging can waste your time and leave you wondering if the line was ever fully cleared in the first place. Grease, sludge, mineral deposits, and other debris can remain stuck to the inside of the pipe even after a basic drain cleaning. Mr. Rooter Plumbing uses hydro-jetting to remove heavy buildup from plumbing lines throughout Central and North Jersey. Keep reading to learn where this service works best, what it removes, and when it may be the right next step for your plumbing system.
The Difference Between Opening a Clog and Cleaning the Pipe
Clearing a blockage and cleaning the inside of a pipe aren’t always the same job. A drain cable, sometimes called a snake or auger, passes through a pipe until it reaches the obstruction. The cable breaks through or pulls apart enough material to restore drainage. That approach works well for many isolated clogs, especially when an object or concentrated mass blocks one section of the line.
Problems are more likely to return when debris is coating the pipe walls instead of sitting in one spot. Fats, oils, soap residue, sludge, and mineral deposits can gradually reduce the open space inside the pipe. A cable may cut through the center of that buildup without removing what is stuck along the sides. The drain starts working again, but leftover deposits give food scraps, hair, paper, and other debris somewhere to catch.
Hydro-jetting cleans the line differently. Specialized equipment sends pressurized water through a nozzle inside the pipe. Water sprays against the pipe walls and back through the line to break deposits loose and carry the debris toward an exit point. Rather than making one narrow opening through a clog, the water cleans buildup from a wider area inside the pipe.
Snaking Can Leave Grease and Sludge Buildup Behind
Kitchen drains collect more than water. Small amounts of cooking oil, grease, sauces, food particles, detergents, and other residue make their way into the line. Grease that goes down warm can cool farther inside the pipe and stick to the walls. Food and other debris then cling to that layer, which makes the buildup thicker.
Bathroom and laundry drains collect a different mix of material. Soap residue can combine with hair, skin oils, lint, and minerals in the water. Inside a main sewer line, those deposits also mix with waste and paper. Eventually, enough sludge can collect to make the opening smaller and slow drainage in more than one part of the property.
A hydro jetting service sends water through the line from several angles to break up the deposits. The licensed plumber in Middletown, NJ chooses the nozzle and water pressure based on the pipe and the type of buildup inside it. The aim is to remove material from the pipe walls and carry it out of the line instead of leaving thick deposits in place.
This can be especially helpful when the same drain has already been mechanically cleared more than once and continues to slow down. If blockages keep forming in one section, leftover material may be catching new debris each time it passes through. A reliable plumber can determine whether high-pressure cleaning is a better option than repeatedly opening another narrow path through the buildup.
Older Pipes Need Inspection Before a Hydro Jetting Service
Water pressure that strips grease and hardened deposits from a healthy pipe needs to be used carefully when the line is older or damaged. Pipes can develop cracks, corrosion, weak joints, offset connections, or sections that have begun to deteriorate. High-pressure cleaning doesn't create those underlying defects, but the condition of the pipe is critical when selecting equipment and pressure.
A camera inspection gives a professional plumber a direct look inside accessible portions of the line. A small waterproof camera travels through the pipe and sends back images of the interior. The inspection can reveal heavy deposits, root intrusion, damaged joints, standing water, displaced sections, or areas where the pipe has lost part of its original shape.
Older homes across Central and North Jersey can contain different piping materials depending on when the plumbing was installed or replaced. Age alone doesn't determine whether hydro-jetting is appropriate. A more relevant question is whether the existing line has the structural integrity needed for this cleaning method.
What Our Customers Have to Say
The service provided was great, nothing to say about the work of the plumber. 5 stars to him. But the company charges felt way too much for the work. We would have liked to have the same plumber take care of other things in the house, but every time he check how much extra the company will charge for the job, the price just got too much. The plumber did an amazing job he selected a beautiful faucet to replace our old one. He did his best. But the company prices have no room for negotiation.
A million stars!!!! Steve and Lucas were absolutely amazing. My parents pipes burst and within 4 hours of calling they came and fixed everything!!! Very nice guys and dealt with my panicking. I will always use them if needed in the future and you all should too!!! Thank god for people like this!!! Thank you so much guys!!!
We got very quick service, I think the plumber actually arrived in less than an hour! After reviewing what was happening, he gave us our options and performed the option we selected. This happened in the late afternoon or early evening. It was already dark and there was a lot of snow on the ground.
I needed immediate, same day service in the early evening at my home. I went to the internet and looked up plumbing services that offered "24-hour, 7-day a week" availability. The first 3 places I called said that they could not get to me until the following day. Then I called Mr. Rooter. They were courteous and promptly got a technician to my house within an hour and a half. The technician, Lucas Kaufmann, was exceptional. The job was not easy, but he figured the problem out and got me all fixed up within an hour's time. Moving forward, I…
Despite what was quite obviously a busy day (day after Thanksgiving at 10pm) TJ came out and did not leave until the job was done! There were several setbacks, which at the late hour might have prompted him to leave- but he chose to stay and continue until the job was complete! I only have one bathroom so I was really hoping he could make it work, and he really did a wonderful job! So thankful for all of his help! I highly recommend TJ!
This is my second time using Mr. Rooter and I have to say they are an excellent company of experienced professionals! The service techs were courteous, experienced and actually spent time trying to figure out the issue before proposing the solution. They were also patient and answered all my questions without rushing the work. I will be using them again.
TJ was amazing! 10/10 recommend this company. We were in an emergency state of panic with a burst pipe in the middle of a bad snowstorm. TJ came with knowledge, professionalism, kindness, and found the root of the problem within five minutes of being here. We will be using him again in the spring to fix an outdoor issue he found!
The technicians were friendly, professional and knowledgeable. The price was too high I believe, but the technicians had no control over that. The technicians took their time and did a great job. I would use them again and also recommend them.
Excellent service! Charles and Nicholas of Mr. Rooter arrived to my scheduled service a few minutes early, wore sanitary shoe coverings, and were extremely professional. They found the source of my leak quickly and fixed the issue. While they here, I requested an additional hydraulic heating inspection which they accommodated. They were very knowledgeable and provided helpful tips. I highly recommend this team and I will definitely call them for all future plumbing needs!!
TJ came to my aid as the water pipe froze in my house. Although nothing could be done he gave me hints of what could be done my me which was very helpful. I found TJ very professional and caring about my situation. The best part of the very long night was the dogs adored him one wanted to accompany him to his next job. Thank you for employing such an amazing man. Plus today there is water running in the house. Thank you TJ and thank you Mr. Rooney plumbing for employing a man with helpful hints!!!!!
Tree Roots Turn a Slow Drain Into a Bigger Sewer Problem
Tree roots naturally grow toward moisture in the soil, and a leaking or poorly sealed sewer joint can give them an opening. Thin roots slip through small gaps and continue growing once they reach the inside of the pipe. Waste and paper become tangled in the roots, which makes the blockage larger and leaves less room for wastewater to pass.
Root problems are normally inconsistent at first. A toilet might work normally for days and then begin draining slowly again. A basement shower or floor drain may back up only when several fixtures are being used at the same time. As more roots grow and more debris becomes trapped, a basic cable may no longer clear enough of the obstruction to solve the problem.
Hydro-jetting will remove some root material and wash away the debris trapped around it. However, it doesn't seal the opening where the roots entered. If a joint has separated or a crack has formed, roots can return until the damaged section is properly repaired.
Could Buildup Be Causing Your Drain Problems?
One clogged drain may only need standard drain cleaning. When the same line has been cleared several times and still starts slowing down again, it makes sense to take a closer look inside the pipe. Mr. Rooter Plumbing provides plumbing services for customers throughout Central and North Jersey. If recurring clogs or sewer line problems are disrupting your home or business, contact us to ask if hydro-jetting is right for your system. Our team will help identify what’s blocking the line and recommend a service based on what is happening inside your pipes.
